The blemishes on the skin that are caused due to over exposure to the sun are called age spots. Age spots are also known as sun spots, liver spots and lentigines. Usually age spots are seen on the face, back of hands and in neck of the people who are above 40. Usually age spots are harmless and they don’t need treatment either. But why do people want to get rid of age spots then? People want to get rid of age spots because age spots reveals their actual age.

Sun damage is the main cause of age spots. You should always protect your skin from harmful rays of sun to avoid age spots. You can wear long sleeves clothes and hat to protect your hands and face form harmful rays of sun. You should never forget to wear a high factor sun screen in order to protect your skin from the sun.

Different kinds of methods are used for the removal of age spots now a day like laser treatment, electric needle, skin sanding and others.There are several home remedies as well which you can use to get rid of age spots. The most important thing you should know is that it takes time to get rid of age spots.

Here I've listed some of the home remedies that can help you to get rid of age spots;

(1) Lemon
Lemon is great remedy for age spots. Apply Fresh lemon juice on the spot using a cotton ball. Repeat this process twice a day. Leave the juice to dry for 30-60 minutes and then wash your face. You will begin to notice the improvements in about two months.

(2) Apple cider vinegar
Apple cider vinegar is very effective in removing age spots. Take 2 teaspoon of apple cider vinegar and then mix it with 1 teaspoon of orange juice. Apply the mixture on the age spots using a cotton pad or clean cloth.

(3) Castor oil
Castor oil is considered very effective against the age spots. You can get rid of age spots in just a month by simply applying Castor oil regularly on the spots in morning and in evening.

(4) Papaya
Papaya is also one of the great remedy of age spots. Take a green papaya and use the fleshy side of the skin to reduce the age spots. Apply the papaya to the spots and leave it to dry for 15-20 minutes daily.

(5) Aloe Vera
Aloe Vera is also considered very effective against age spots. Just apply aloe Vera gel, juice or pulp to the spots twice a day. Continue this process for a month or two.

(6) Buttermilk
Since ancient time, buttermilk has been used as skin cleanser and beauty aid. Buttermilk is also one of the effective remedy of age spots. Just by dabbing the buttermilk in the spots will help you to get rid of age spots.

By the help of the above mentioned remedies you can get rid of age spots naturally and there will be no side effects either. Besides above mentioned remedies eating fruits and vegetables especially those which are rich in vitamin c can also help you to get rid of age spots.
